Oriol Segon

Studied photography at the Institut d’Estudis Fotogràfics de Catalunya (IEFC) and participated in documentary photography workshops given by, among others, Antoine d’Agata (Magnum Photos), Franco Pagetti (VII), José Manuel Navia (Agence Vu), Ariana Rinaldo (OjodePez), and Darcy Padilla.

His photo essay Young Patriots won a Spot Light Award at the Festival della Fotografia Etica in Lodi, Italy in 2014 and the Exposure Award 2014 from the SeeMe gallery in New York, presented at the Louvre in 2015. Young Patriots has been exhibited at DOCfield>14 (Barcelona, 2014), at the Backlight Festival (Tampere, Finland, 2014), at the PA-TA-TA Festival (Granada, 2014), at the Encontros da Imagem festival (Braga, Portugal, 2014), at the Festival della Fotografia Etica (Lodi, Italy, 2014), at the Kolga Photo Festival (Tbilisi and Batumi, Georgia, 2015), and at the Konvent (Cal Rosal, Berguedà, Spain, 2014). The project has also been published by CNN (USA), in the Sunday supplement D of La Repubblica (Italy), in WU magazine (Italy), and in Cicero Magazine (Germany).

Oriol currently works as a freelance photographer and gives documentary photography workshops to organizations and at festivals such as the PA-TA-TA Festival in Granada and Fotoducumental Ecuador in Quito. His work explores the fragility and vulnerability of human beings.
